Pio and Tito Toso, two brothers from Venice, born respectively in 1973 and 1971, can be considered one of the liveliest, most innovative design partnerships in the Italian design scene. Having trained and graduated from the Accademia delle Belle Arti in Venice, the brothers took part in a series of international projects which led to them winning great awards, such as the Red Dot Design Award in 2012.

They constantly work with many national and international brands, and their most outstanding projects have been those they have worked on with companies dedicated to the art of lighting, such as Artemide, Foscarini, Vistosi and Leucos and Fabbian. They created the Meteorite lamp by Artemide at their studio, located in Zero Branco in the province of Treviso. This is a lighting system created in 2014 which is iconic of the ultimate in design applied to light diffusion. Meteorite combines the top Venetian blown glass tradition with an innovative processing concept which aims to enhance the intrinsic beauty of the entire collection. The glass is blown and ground in a particular way, then shaped into forms with a democratic beauty, which are purposely flawed but more than capable of conveying light in an attractive way.

Pio and Tito Toso apply their art to the creation of small pieces of furniture, such as for example the famous Flag clothes peg by Pedrali. This example of a style which is fun but essential in its intrinsic structure becomes an icon of their work, always geared to prise a smile out of those who behold it but ultimately leaving them with a lasting impression of immense satisfaction due to the functionality of the element. We can see this in Globe, an amusing system of chairs conceived and created by the two brothers for the imaginative Rossi brand by Albizzate. Here a series of brightly coloured spheres in polyurethane which can be assembled manages to breathe life into a design of chairs with an eclectic soul. The chairs in question always remain true to their prime function, and indeed appear comfortable and welcoming.

This is the soul of the duo Pio and Tito Toso, a mixture of fun and their attachment to their cultural roots. The use of glass and of colours that evoke the echoes of Venetian buildings is a constant in their work, and at the same time reveals their great passion for their homeland. Examples of this are their architectural projects closely linked to the territory, such as the creation of eco-friendly tourist itineraries and initiatives designed to redevelop the Piave river, or the creation and redevelopment of the town centre in Caposile. Projects that aim to make disused areas futuristic and contemporary, giving them a new life and the possibility to host a large number of people in an alternative way. This is the final objective of the Toso brothers: to make architecture and design democratic without ever forgetting the power of beauty and that whatever is created must ultimately be enjoyed.

The result is not only visible in their work on design and its application in everyday life, but also in the many projects that have made them one of the most interesting companies in the field of design both on a national and international level. From environmental redevelopment projects to the design of professional studios and working areas, the work of brothers Pio and Tito Toso never fails to amaze us, and constantly appears innovative from any and all perspectives.
