Striking yet minimalist, the Lunaire wall lamp may be considered a design element of a two-fold nature. This is evident from both its aesthetic composition, as well as its great ability to convert itself into a modern lamp with a ceiling attachment. This wall lamp designed by Ferreol Babin for Fontana Arte, showcases a reflector and front disc, both made of polished aluminium. The diffuser is made of clear sandblasted methacrylate to give any space a perception of light that is well diffused and extremely sophisticated. Lunaire???s light source is made with a 55W smooth ring, which is the perfect solution effortlessly changing this wall lamp into a modern appliqué without sacrificing brightness. The power source along with its functional design allow for perfect and relaxing illumination in any kitchen or living room. Lunaire is 75 cm in diameter and only 11 cm deep. Its balanced shape also makes it a design element that can be easily inserted into any type of space. This wall lamp???s aesthetic will perfectly align the planets of the cosmos. For an even more effortless and creative use, Lunaire is available in two colour options: both the reflector and disc in total white, or a two-toned effect with a white reflector and front disc in a deep and refined black.
Ferreol Babin was born in Dijon, France in 1987. He was interested from a very early age in the artistic shape of items, and after graduating in France, he moved to Japan to continue his studies at the University of Art and Design in Nagoya. Once his schooling was over, he started to work in the Robert Stadler studio in Paris and obtained a degree at the ESAD in object Design in Reims. Young Babin, an inspirational and independent designer had an explosive university and professional career. Babin concentrated his line of studies and work on lighting accessories, creating objects that are practical and functional but at the same time have an emotional dimension.
Babin continued his career under the direction of Sam Baron at the Centre of research and communications of Treviso, for Benetton.
The French designer creates objects that are modern and at times minimalistic. His designs are the epitome of an essential and simple style, but at the same time have an unexpected side to them that charms and astonishes.
The objects he designs seem to have their own spirit that goes beyond first impressions. All his work and his lighting technology projects stand out because of their simplicity and essential qualities. Their bright, elusive colours, fit in to any context. These lights convey unexpected intense moods and feelings.
Babin always strives to understand how an object of his is going to be used, and tries to develop a bond between the object and consumer. With his design philosophy, Babin has earned himself various awards. In 2014 his Lunaire lamp was defined by ADI as the best Italian object of design in production. The young French designer was awarded with “Talent à la carte” from MAISON & OBJET, and the New York Times defined him as an one of the three emerging stars in this line of work.
